Restos #5 & #6 - IXL and W&B 7/8” scalloped backs in burl
Finished these 2 over the weekend. Both are 7/8” scalloped back ¼ hollows. The blade with 1 piece scales is a Wade & Butcher and the other is a Wostenholm IXL.
The initial bevels are set, so all they need is some pyramids and finishing. Both were ebay finds in pretty bad shape.
The wood is thuya burl. I was going to make matching scales, but one piece of burl broke while cutting the rough shape and I happened to have a small piece of gaboon ebony, so one set ended up being two piece.
The finish is poured epoxy resin and poly (Thanks for the great thread cannonfodder!).
Both have brass liners and adjustable pins with acrylic wedges.
I know it sounds cliché, but the pictures really don’t do these justice. The finish came out really deep, and unfortunately I suck at photography. :/
Any comments, criticism, etc. are very welcome.
BTW, while restos are really fun to do, I think that one of the best parts is that when you're done, you have more cool razors. :y
