Round Point King Cutter in Red Linen Micarta
I finally have this one almost complete, close enough to at least post some pics.
I found this King Cutter with a good sized nick in the blade at a local antique store. It was just the blade, which saved a little time on the unpinning process. :D
The blade was in pretty decent shape (other than the nick) so I just took off the patina with some .5 micron sand paper and polished it up a little. I am a newbie with a polishing wheel and got a little carried away. The etching on the blade is a little shinier than it should be, making the text a little hard to read.
I was getting a little tired of all of my razors having a very similar look to them. Almost all have black scales. Boring. I like the way the micarta turned out. I still have the option of polishing it for more shine, but I like the matt finish. Feels nice too, just a little bit of tactile sensation, very smooth but doesn't feel polished. I used a clear acrylic spacer for contrast.
I think I will be replacing the microfasteners with regular brass pins, but I haven't done any of that yet and didn't want to learn on this set of scales.
Stupid stainless steel takes forever to hone. I jumped the gun and didn't set the bevel very well. It shaved, but was the worst shave since starting with the straights. I'll fix that tomorrow night.

This last picture is of the current rotation. All Bokers. King Cutter with a lot of micropitting in black scales. Edelweiss in faux ivory.
