I'm constantly amazed by the obsessive ingenuity of guys here! Interested to see how this works for you.
I have 3 ceramic knives and have had some honing success with my DMT Diamond plates. I plan on going back to them to see if I can get them better. My ceramics have very little use because of the delicate nature of them. No bone cutting or use on hard surfaces. I have already broke the point off of one of them. I can't wait to see the results of your project.

Wow! What a great idea!:) It was always said that a ceramic razor would be to brittle. Well...now we will find out for sure.
Thanks a bunch for doing this!:gl:
Why yes, it used to be a paring knife.
However, as shown here, paring knives can make excellent shavers!:p
diamond-grinding-wheel.com Site I found with a brief search for higher grit diamond wheels of course how ceramic handles on the higher grit wheels I'm unsure....
You have me tempted to pickup a Tachi and give it a go problem I'm seeing is getting it to that initial razor edge anyone know to what fineness these ceramic knife manufacturers sharpen to initially?
Damn impressive, made me think of how prehistoric man might have shaved...did they?? what about during the depression when steel was a premium..wonder if peeps shaved with glass??
I was thinking.
If you did the ceramic blade as a frameback with a steel frame, would that help with strength?
interesting, but what happens if you drop it?
