Ebony Friodur

Hi,
Well, these were originally to be one piece, but with my tools, combined with my patience, they evolved into two plus a wedge!
The wedge is very dense, & i think is a variety of laurel. It came fom a hedge i removed a few years ago. Although i'm a bit irritated with not knowing exactly what it is, i do like the contrast.
They are pinned with nickel silver, with domed stainless washers
These are my first attempt, but honest opinions would be appreciated. I have definite room for improvement, i know, & many of you here provide serious inspiration!

Fit and finnish looks solid and the pinning looks top notch. Nice and tight and great contrast with the wedge and scales.

First time ???? .... This does not look like a first time job at all. VERY well done and very tasteful.

The only suggestion I could add is the wedge pin...
But that might just be my personal preferences butting in there...

I decided to omit the wedge pin right from the start. It's glued with quality waterproof pva. The idea was to create clean lines. There's no reason why it couldn't be added. Do you think it affects the balance, in terms of aesthetics?

Oh, & Max, I know what you mean. Fitted the scales, honed, stropped & ready to go & i decided to check the scratch pattern again with the loupe & dinged it! Start all over again. Took me two three hours to get back to where i was!

look at it this way MASTRO LIVI dont use em' so its easy to say you don't have to either ;)

and let me add that you could sell that beauty in a day in the classifieds if you ever wanted to ...

I'm 100% after that. No wedge pin needed for me. I could sell it, but could i get my money back!:D
I've got no pictures at the moment. As you can see, it was fairly gloomy in England today. Took these outside, & it's dark now, so can't do you one till tomorrow. The other side looks exactly the same though. I peened one end of the pin, assembled it, got it tight, filed it to approx 0.5mm proud, then peened it again. Each side it a mirror of the other really.
