Slater Brothers
I tried to prevent grinding the etching away on the blade, even though you can't see it in the picture, it's there. I may go back and continue buffing it to a perfect finish, but lose the etching, what are your opinions? This was my first try with Linen micarta, I didn't know whether to buff it, or how much to sand it, so I left it with texture, and I think I like that. Is this considered a quarter wedge?

You may lose some of the grain aspects if you buff it. I like the matte finish.
I would call that a classic small 1/4 hollow. I love blades like that, I have an Ascend razor with a similar shape and grind and I find it's well suited to my face and technique.

I saw a dovo micarta recently & they're polished up, but i think that looks good as it is. I'm into the matt finish right now! Just remembered i'd said you could have those old scales once i'd done my friodur. They're pretty rubbish, but you're still welcome to them. P.M. me where to send them mate.

You could consider a light patina over the blade. It would highlight the etch a little but yeah, fine as it is. :tu

I say keep the origional grinding and markings, at least for now. If you still don't like it in a few months get rid of em.
Seems like the longer I am in the razor arena, the more I appreciate the origional grind marks and am reluctant to get rid of em.

Doc....nice looking razor. I have a similar Slater Bros. I sent to Traveller to have it reworked.

Thanks for the input. The razor is a great shaver with very little effort on the hone. The blade actually looks better than in the pics, but I don't know how to make these things look realistic in photos.
