George Wostenholm - Celebrated I-XL - 5/8 Wedge

Here's a nice classic 5/8 George Wostenholm Celebrated I-XL Wedge.

Cleaned up really nice. The etching on the blade "Wostenholm's hollow ground" is still present but since I had to make a decision and opted for cleaning and polishing the blade it's less dominant but still present. A few barely noticable stains left but cleaned up really nicely.

This time I used a black linen micarta for the scales with a red/black recon stone for the wedge/spacer. Turned out really slick.

nice, and in your experience is it common for them to etch it hollow but it actually be a wedge?

You call it a wedge but, prior to polishing out the etching, did the blade say anything about "medium" hollow ground?

Nope, never said anything about 'Medium Hollow Ground'.

Technically I could call it at 1/8 hollow as it's probably slightly concaved going towards the edge. Here's a crop from one of my pics.

Just curious. I have such a razor but it reads "medium hollow ground", more like a 1/2 hollow grind. A great shaver.

Awesome. You continue to raise the bar. Aspiring restorers such as myself look at such a razor and know that perfection has become the standard.
