I love it, Charlie. My Dad has a hunting knife with a stacked leather handle; stacked leather handles have good memories for me.
Very very nice.

Wow ,,,very nice looking and unique at that. Great work.
Now that is very nice Charlie!
 :bow
Really nice Charlie. Love stacked leather. :) How do you find that steel? Any better or worse than some of the other steels we see kicked around on here?
Jordan
Just a great blade, I love the style you put out!
Wow, very nice !
Where do you guys learn how to do stuff like this, I dont know how to do anything .
Did somebody tell you, you couldn't do that?
It certainly catches the eye Charlie, good job.
That is an absolute work of art! Very nice!
I think the steel is more than adequate for razors. The big factors seem to be my heat treating and the geometry of the blades. I find the small smiling blades well suited to the way that I shave. The last two razors that I made from this spring are holding up well I am assuming that this one will also. The new forge and muffle combined with me becoming more in tune with the process seems to be paying off. I am learning.
HA, not this time
When I was a bratty Cub Scout I yearned for one of those Eastwing hatchets with leather handle, now I have my own version.
Charlie
See, now you'll never get the needle out of your arm. :rofl2: That's how it begins, "I want something like that...." And you're too cheap to buy one and you have tools so you start making things. Incurable, this disease of steel.
I'm sure there is someone near the Eastwing works wondering why they feel a disturbance in the force...:jedi:
Really nice Charlie! Handle looks like an Estwing hammer! I love the shapes in the blade particularly.
That is really sharp looking. I really like how the steel tapers to a hourglass shape. I that just a nice aesthetic element or does it have some function (balance point or finger notch)? I can't wait to see what comes out of your shop next. :tu
it would take quite a chunk of change to pry that baby from my hands. that is if i owned it.:nj
Wow, your style is certainly evolving! Excellent, unique work!!!!!:bow
I believe you're making the coolest looking handmades out there. Kinda sucks, really. I've been doing this a lot longer, and you're blowing me out of the water. On the upside, you're giving me lots of ideas to rip off. :D
I will be honest. I very like your work at the steel. Cool shape at the blade.
With the "handle" I´m not so happy. Only my very personal taste, because I´m not a big fan from the japaneses shaped razors.
Buddel,
I appreciate your comments. If everybody liked the same thing it would really suck and be boring, variety is good. There is nothing worse than the herd mentality. At the moment I am fascinated with using the non-folding razors. The only part that I do not like is figuring out how to store them. I really do not enjoy scale making it is my least favorite part of making razors.
The new has not worn off of my forge and anvil yet, I cannot wait to get home and hammer for a while in the evenings. I like to try new concepts and ideas and see how they work.
Charlie
How long is the cutting edge on this one? I have a hard time figuring out the scale on this one, maybe it's due to the thicker wrapped handle.
Either way, your making some great stuff and pushing the boundaries.
Charlie, I missed your Estwing reference when i made mine & i've only spotted it now that Ditch Doc quoted you. It was the first thing that struck me about it though!
It was meant as a compliment mate. You're not taken completely seriously here as a carpenter unless you possess an Estwing hammer! Mine's not got the leather grip though.
Well, I just came home, and ChrisL was on Skype so we chatted. The first thing he mentions is have I seen Charlies newest razor? He then sent me a link......
Wow! That is really cool! Great stuff Charlie!:tu
Wow Charlie. That one rocks.
Beautiful lines & angles. The leather grip is a nice touch too. :nj
