My first restoration...
Well here it is, My first attempt at restoring a razor. It's a Keen Kutter 5/8 that was really pitted and rusted. The scales are palm wood that I stabilized myself. I used about 20-30 coats of CA, thin Hyperbond from Rabid Models.com. I used #0-80 hex head brass screws and brass flat washers for the pins and put a 1/4" mosaic pin inlayed on the scales. I know the front pins are way off, but I messed up drilling the hole, twice! I can't drill in a straight line or draw one either! Got to get a drill press! Forgot to take a pic of the wedge. It's a piece of American Holly. The white of the Holly is a good contrast to the palm wood. I also used nylon #0 washers for spacers on the pivot. I was really proud of it until I looked at some of the razors you all restored, but it is my first attempt and I have alot of room for improvement. Oh well, it's going to my brother-in-law for a present anyhow. More to come and most definitely better! Thanks for looking and God Bless you all!

I think it's a damn fine first try! I would certainly be proud.

Great job! Nice scales to go with the blade.

Looks like a great job on the CA. Congrats!

That is way too nicely done to go to a brother in law! I really like the shape you gave the scales. If this is your first attempt, you will do some amazing work once you get that drill press.

You guys are great!
Thanks to all of you! It really gives me a boost to hear such kind words from you all! I thought it was a real mistake posting this razor because of the mistakes, after seeing all the pieces of Art the guys like Alex, Max, Glen, Ronnie and O_S do. And thats just the names that come to mind right away. Gives you that boost to know your work is appreciated! Thank you all! My Brother-in-Law is worth much more to me than any razor could! He put me up for 8 months, rent free, when I moved down here to SE Ohio from North Dakota. The only thing is I don't know if he'll use the razor!
