Great looking restore. I hink your custom scales suit the razor so much better than the original pair did.
I know what you mean about the great performance of the Boker razors. I have a 102 RP that I love to shave with despite the crack in the blade.

Glen , On second look at this blade I just realised that not only is the etch crisp but its color remained also. Know what I mean ? the grey within the etch. Most other methods will remove that but the tumbler must be much gentler. Think I want one now.
The Boker "Black Eagle" came in the mail today.
It looks great and later on I will know how it shaves!
Now that it is in hand I took a closer look at the tree symbol and compared it to the pictures in an earlier post. I can see that it most closely matches the 1924-1935 symbol. It is a bit stylized, I presume to account for the difficulty in stamping such a small image on the steel. Although stylized it has all the same branches in all the same locations as the 1924-1935 image. The other images don't match in that way.
This is a very interesting period in US history. Between the wars, the depression, prohibition, flappers, speakeasies, etc.. The silver "Peace" dollar was in circulation.

An interesting difference between the eagle on the dollar and the eagle on the razor. On the dollar the eagle hold an olive branch in its talons; on the razor, lightening bolts. The lightening bolts themselves are interesting -- I thought the eagle usually had both an olive branch and arrows. I don't remember lightening bolts. Maybe it is a subtle German representation of the SS symbol!
Your work on this razor is absolutly beautiful and something to really be admired. Fabulous job!

Your comments on the Boker steel is intresting as I've have just one, but it's one of my favorite shavers just because the silky feeling.
I shaved with the Boker Black Eagle and must say the quality of the shave is obvious. I can't say how much of that is due to Glen's honing ability or to the inherent characteristics of the steel, but I guess both must both be top-notch for the overall result to be this good.
The day after the Boker shave I went back to my professionally-honed, but heavily (ab?)used, Dovo, which I thought I had brought back to a decent edge, and realized just how far from "good" I was with that. Got a couple of nicks due to impatience with its lack of cutting ability and after being spoiled by the Boker.
Back to honing practice!
