Superb work. Having handled that blade, it is, indeed, a monster. Super collaboration, and great work, both you you.:tu
Very cool Glen and Randy! I saw a few photos
of Randy's blades a while ago and was very
impressed. All of these amazing razors being
made today is very exciting!

Glen...that is really great work! I never knew that material was available.
You have surpassed, by far, what I was expecting. Wonderful work!:tu
Th blade steel is 1095 high carbon. It was heat treated in a gas forge and quenched in oil. It has went through 2 tempering cycles. First at 350 F but that left the steel to hard and prone to micro chipping. The next was at 475 with a goal of a 58-59 HRC hardness. This makes the steel not only softer and easier to hone but also tougher.
If I recall correctly he blade is 8/8 at the toe and less at the heel. I hope Glen will fill in the details.
Due to the extreme ratio of blade width to spine thickness this will most likely need to be honed with multiple layers of tape. Probably 3 layers.
Glen, again, that's just wonderful work.:)
Excellent work. I saw some of Randy's blades at the SE gather and they were awesome. I believe Glen coined the "Trigger" tail phrase for a couple of the blades.
Are these going to be available for purchase/order in the future?
That's a 10 out of 10, guys. Wow. There's a traditional quality to it that I like. The scales remind me of the best celluloid in its heyday. Beautiful blade, Randy.
A guy after my own heart when I hear that you sought to correct micro-chipping. I'm going to start a worldwide campaign against razors that micro-chip to rid the world of em.;)
Tell us more!!!!!!
