Default Joseph Elliot Silver Ring in Ivory Micarta with twisted blade

I have had this razor for about 6 months now and have been dreading doing any work on it.

The blade itself is in pretty good shape, with only very small pitting on different areas of the blade. Nothing that I was going to bother sanding out. I also really liked the decoration on the blade, so I wanted to keep that intact. The problem is that the blade has a twist in it. Between the heel and the toe of the blade there is perhaps 10 - 15 degrees of twist. This means that the blade does not, nor ever will, center in the scales. I'm happy to have the toe not hit the scales when they are closed, its that bad.

The scales are ivory micarta that I just kinda freestyled into a shape I liked. I had a pen blank that I wanted to use as the wedge, and I wanted to be able to see a lot of wedge, so the scale shape just sort of evolved while I was in front of the sander. Nickel pins and SS washers hold everything together.

Now, putting the blade in scales is one thing, but I was more concerned about how the honing would go. Had to use x strokes for sure. It seems to have gone pretty well, but I won't know until tomorrow how successful I have been.

The last picture is an attempt to display the amount of twist. Hard to do in a picture tho.

That looks like a nightmare! Nice job though! If you wanted to reduce the affect of the twist in the scales, you could probably grind the tang to compensate.
    Enjoy the shave.

Given the handicap with the blade, I say great job and it's usable !
