Default Wade & Butcher 7/8 barber notch wedge in black pearl

This one was a job. I really wish I had a before photo. The rust on the blade was so bad it was not just pitted but scaled and flaking. I have a good 20 hours of hand sanding work on this blade.

It use to be etched, Fine India Steel, but to get the rust off, it had to go. The blade was sanded from 220 grit down to 12000 micromesh. Then it got 4 compounds on the buffing wheels to bring it to a mirror polish. There is still some light pitting near the barber notch and top of the spine. I would have loved to get it perfect, but it would have simply taken too much metal off and changed the grind of the blade.

The blade itself had no noticeable hone ware. It looked like it spent the past hundred plus years in its coffin case and deteriorated over time.

The scales are a black and silver pearl. The pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers. I used two pins for the wedge. The wedge is a pearl acrylic.

It is a wonderful looking razor. It honed up quickly since there was no hone ware. It took a super nice edge and shaves like a dream. I am going to list it in the classifieds, I have a couple of them.

nice! that looks like the same kind of W&B blade that you cleaned up and scaled for me. It is a very nice smooth shaver.
