Default 6/8 Barber notch wedge JosephElliot in abalone

The is a 6/8 JosephElliot's Best Silver steel barber notch wedge with a thumb notch tang and abalone scales. The blade was in decent condition but had some light pitting and a lot of staining. The blade got a sanding from 400 to 12000 grit paper and then 4 compounds to bring it to a mirror finish. The blade has no hone ware. I don't believe it has ever see a hone.

The scales are abalone. Beautiful looking, much better in person. The photos do not capture the full depth of the shell. The pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers. The blade has brass thrust bearings.

I still need to hone it up but I have had a few JosephElliot razors and they have all been super shavers. This one will be going into my collection. I will have to find another to sell.

Beautiful razor!!! I love that blade and the scales. I can see why you're keeping that one.

The odds of seeing 2 Joseph Elliots both restored in Abalone scales, both 6/8 on the same day....looks amazing

I noticed that. Nice razors. I have had the scales sitting waiting for a blade worthy for a few weeks. I got the blade finished and went to pin it, then realized I was short brass washers. So I ordered another 300. They arrived, went to pin it again and realized I ordered size 00 instead of 0 so I had to order more. Took two weeks to just get it pinned. But it was worth the wait.

I'm not buying the "your keeping this one" statement -

you got the bug for customs and sooner or later, it takes over and consumes you...I am just trying to figure out timing now so I can be online and have the money to snag it when the time comes you know you need another chandler or williams or harner or ellis or .......... don't let one of these old dogs slow down your pursuit

    Really Nice job!

Did not regrind it, that is factory, part of the reason I am hanging onto it. It is somewhat unique. That fact that it shaves so nice does not hurt either.
