The patina does not get hot enough to affect the temper. The only minus to the patina is there is a slight bit of transfer to the strop for the first few uses. If you had a pristine strop you would notice it, if you have a broken in used stop it would not be an issue.
Yes, that was my first razor. I have learned a great deal since then by hanging out and reading here at SRP. There are some mighty smart people around to learn from.
