This one was borderline landfill :(
Before pics may not seem so bad but the corrosion was that spiderweb stuff that runs deep & it looked like someone already tried sanding one side. The edge was a nightmare. Pre bevel set showed that it might be worth honing so took a risk & cleaned it up as best as possible. There was no way I was going to foil or break this one so minimal steel was removed. The mark side came up ok but the pile side is still fairly pitted. Needless to say the frosting went bye-byes. They are a very shallow etch.
Gave the scales 'tha blue carpet treatment' with the Novus 1,2,3 system. At least they're minty fresh now :)
She did hone up quite well with some residual pits in just a few spots on the bevel but the rest of the bevel came up sound. Those visible pits may microchip on subsequent honings or not but probably wouldn't be felt in the shave. There's a whole bunch of summooooth Puma shaves in that edge before they need addressing in any case. Mailing out on Monday after some serious shave testing :p
Enjoy Matt !
