8/8 Baber's Notch in olive wood scales
I test-shaved with this 8/8 the evening, and it absolutely murdered three days' worth of stubble. :)
One thing I've been working on is getting the very edge of the blade as thin as possible--Tim Zowada takes his to 0.001" before honing. The result is an almost microscopic honing bevel that takes an edge very easily and offers little resistance as it slices through hair. I'm not in Tim's league, but this edge is almost that thin. The bevel is tiny, and it took me about 15 minutes to hone, start to finish. (This is despite the blade's hardness; I haven't tested it, but it's probably well north of 60RC.)
The scales are olive wood finished in tung oil, with an adjustable pivot, blue lapis luzuli stone spacer, and decorative mosaic pin.
The blade is very beefy O1 steel with a satin finish in the hollows and a mirror finish on the tang and spine.
Thanks for looking. :)
