After this, I swear I'm going on a diet of 6/8s for a while. :D
This is a 9/8, which is the biggest razor I've made so far. I had intended for it to be an 8/8, but it turned out that I didn't have to remove the extra width that I sometimes leave on as a safety margin, so here it is.
I wanted to throw something in the photos for scale, and when I found this cute little 4/4 blade I couldn't resist. :)
Blade is O1, scales are olivewood, and the wedge is black buffalo horn.

I check SRD for your blades periodically, but either I'm too slow, or they're not getting them right now.

What size wheel did you grind the bevels on?

Thanks, guys. I used my 8" wheel, but I stopped maybe 1/8" short of the spine, so the grind is similar to the 8/8s I've done. It's more like a half hollow. With how thin I'm grinding the edge now, the razor has a little more auditory feedback than you might expect on a big heavy blade. They sharpen so much more easily if you get the edge down to just .001" or .002". There's just not much steel to remove at that point.Quote:
