K.C. Seelbach Seel Brand 13/16th's

This is my second Seelbach razor and sadly this one is not in near as good of shape as my first one. The blade it self is not too bad with very little hone wear but does have some pitting. The scales are a different story, the seller actually broke them while taking pictures so I managed to snag it with the only bid. Although I'm not done with it yet I wanted to atleast get this thread started. So what do you do with broken bolstered scales??? Acetone!!!! I'm thinking clear acrylic for this one. Now lets hope I don't make the mistake I made when I transplanted the bolsters on my DD Goldedge and put them on backwards:gaah:. So here is where we are at the moment.....

Brass liners, Luckily the break is on the pivot. Once the scales are adhered to the liners the crack will hardly be noticeable with the different colors at the pivot, the pins and washers will help to conceal it too..

Yep......you lost me lol. I don't plan on trying to save the scales, this will be a re-scale. I'm guessing that is what your thinking but I could be way wrong.....

It's a good thing these can pretty much only go on one way Max :D.
The bolsters are epoxied as we speak, just waiting for them to dry so I can give everything one more polish and get them coated. Should have some more pics tonight, might get it together if everything drys in time. Glad you guys are enjoying it.

Well guys, sorry for the lack of an update here. Between being swamped at work and BREAKING THE SCALES :cen it has been crazy the last couple of day. Not to be set back, I've got the brass cleaned back up and plan to start on the scales again tomorrow. Hang in there guys, I will get this one done.

:cen :cen :cen Guys......I am so sorry but these scales just don't seem want to come to life for me....2 trys.....3 broken scales! Well lets hope the old saying holds true.......3rd time is the charm. I've never had this much hell with a set of scales!

3rd time IS the charm. I'm sure THIS TIME it will work out for the best.
A good thing can be to determine WHAT exactly caused these scales to break? It CAN work out, i've seen clear acrylic scales before. There's alway's hope.........

Oh the cause is very clear(hmmm, puns)....ME! Lol. I've done a hand full of sets out of this same acrylic before with this being the most recent..

At Last!!!! Sorry guys, I was away from this project for a while and finally got a chance to get back to it. This set survived after 2 failed attempts and I just need to get her honed. Snapped a couple quick pics....this set is not perfect but I'm happy with how they turned out. All clear acrylic and brass on brass.
