7/8 Marsh Custom Restore
I haven't done one like this in at least 2 years but one of the guys over at B&B saw the pics of the last one on my website and made the request, so I figured why not...
The Razor:
MARSH BROTHERS & CO
Pond Works, Sheffield until 1852
Navigation Works, Sheffield ca. 1853 - 1920
I am pretty sure this razor was "fixed" at some point in time in the past, two clues were the edge is a touch short...
There was a percussion ripple in the edge... I took most of it out
I think it was dropped and the Barbers Notch was taken off but we'll never know for sure...
I polished it out to a near perfect mirror
The Scales:
The scales are a pattern I used about two years ago and it was requested again, it really shows well with a larger polished blade.. I used some new Black Palm I just got in with a Pearl acrylic wedge.. The pins are NiAg and the washers are a double stack SS and Brass....
Hope you like it Brad...

I am looking forward to shaving this one in the morning before it heads home...

As usual, Glen, stunning work. I love the lines on those scales...
-
Looks great Glen... way to go (love your balance shots :D )

How did you finish the wood Glen?
The choice of wood and finish makes it look like it might have been done 100 or more years ago. Very nice work.
-
Good catch Eric I knew I forgot to type something LOL
The finish is MinWax Wipe on Poly, but I actually hand rub it in, you can just wipe it on with a rag like the instructions call for, or you can fingertp it, and get a much better/different result... This is about 12-15 (I lost count) coats with a Fine Steel wool rub down after every 3 then RenWax over the top...
-
Eric is right, that wood has a very cool, rustic look to it. Beautiful blade too. Nice work all around, G.

-
Beautiful! Bet it will shave great too!

Great work as always Glen! :bow
I really like the wood that the scales are made from, and the shape is both modern and classic at the same time!
Lovely!
