Purist inspired, mutant, fixed blade thing

Like most of us I saw "The Purist" and desperately wanted one, unfortulately thats not very realistic for me but it got me thinking. I've had this concept floating round in the back of my mind for a while after reading a post from Shooter74743 where he did a similar project.
This blade came from one of the first ebay razors I ever bought. It had some nasty pitting and the heel was badly worn. A good canidate for an experiment.
The blade was ground, dremmeled, and hand sanded from 120 grit back up to 800 beore being blued. The handle is 2 pieces of black acrylic epoxied together over the ground down tang. Because the blade still shows some pitting I didnt want anything on this to look to shiney and pretty, so the handle has a matt finish and I even pulled out my dirty old 8 oz hammer to peen the pin and left it with some nice strike marks just for character.

I like it very unassuming, just make sure you don't let it get mixed in with the flatware it would be hard to tell it apart from the knives. Now for the real test, how does it shave?

very cool stuff... shoot by the time I get any of my projects done this year, everyone else will have created about 10 :D

That is a very cool looking razor. You did a great job with the design, it has beautiful lines. The overall finish and patina rock.

I really really like the finish on that blade. I think that is as close to a natural patina as I have ever seen anyone get. What kind of bluing process did you use?

Really cool looking. I have a folding razor by Robert Williams with the thumb notch forward of the tang like that and I love it. Great job.

I just used a wipe on gun bluing liquid. I know nothing about guns or bluing, but I read a few old posts here and watched a couple of You Tube clips. Turned out pretty well for a first go.

That looks really good. The notch on the spine was a great idea.

Thanks mate. I still haven't had a chance to hone it yet, I've spent the last couple of nights trying to set up a wireless router for my new laptop and I'm a computer moron:banghead:. Its done now though, so hopefully tonight. It looks honed in some of the pics, but I just gave it a couple of swipes on my DMT 1200 to bring out the silver bevel and spine for the photos. I'll keep you posted.

Made this cool little box for it yesterday. Didnt really think about storage when I made it, this works well though.
Honed it and test shaved, tweeked it a bit more on the new Thuri, 8 laps on the Chrome Ox, for a wicked sharp and smooth edge.

I like how the box resembles a casket!

Very nice. I've been thinking about bluing a blade myself. This might help me make up my mind. What did you use to cut the jimps? I have a diamond blade for a jeweler's saw but I haven't tried it yet.
