New custom 8/8's off to Japan

This is one I made from a drawing and specs sent in from one of our favorite fellow forum members in Japan.

It is 8/8s full hollow round nose with forefinger notch and a little sway in the back. There are jinks top and bottom on the tang. Blade is buffed to a mirror finish. The scale are polished bone with a black longhorn wedge

I have been "itching" to ask..between these new style western Japanese str8 razors vs the old skool non folding.what are the differences (if any other than folding and non folding) i.e. sharpness/weight/maneuverability/smoothness..etc..:confused:

Basically a different geometry in that the non folder is asymmetrical & the folder evenly ground on both sides. The other things you mention are to a degree, subjective.

Yes I thought it was a great design too. It is not totally unique though. As creative as I may think I am, this design is a semi-copy of Bob's own custom as described in this thread "Custom Longhorn Scales".

I sent him this drawing, a change in the tail shape and soon I will have my own version of Bob's original.
