Ok, so it's taken me about half a year due to my sporadic shop access, but my 3 most recent custom projects are really getting into gear. They all survived a nice dip in the salt pots (heat treating baby!) and came out beautifully. 1095 blades right at 60 Rc and a 5160 blade at 56. If I don't blow it now, I should have some fun razors to show for it.

Nice looking razors! Keep us posted on your progress I cannot wait to see the final razors. You might need to start making more of an effort to spend more time in the shop if your gonna turn out razors of this quality.

The shark blade is going to need some very unique scales. Do you have any ideas for it yet?

I kind of like that shark too. Odd because I tend to prefer traditional shapes. That one reminded me of a medieval weapon or a Star Wars movie prop until someone pointed out the shark relationship. Impressive job. :tu
I really like the first two, don't know how "useable" the shark/mako will be...no offense. It definately has kool factor.

I think they should end up a bit on the hollow side of 1/2 hollow (keeping fingers crossed) They check in at about 7/8 and I'm on a 3" wheel, so I should get a pretty good amount of hollow.Quote:

Sounds like heat treating went extremely well. They should take a killer edge. 1095 is all I use. It's a little old school, but then so aren't straights.
You're right about the 3" wheel. You can get pretty hollow with that. I use a 2" to get to full hollow.

Those are seriously awesome looking designs...the Jaws/shark one is real interesting. Careful as a shaver though. It may actually have a big bite :D.
Do you think the scales' design will affect its balance or does that matter. I would really love to see the finished product (and how it shaves). I am sure the it's going to be a nail biter waiting for this :).
