Attempt @ Bone Scales."Thanks Zomax"
http://straightrazorpalace.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Attempt at bone scales "Special Thanks 2 Zomax"
I have never worked with bone b4 and been wanting to give it a try. I seen Zomax's 1st post of his Giraffe bone scales, I PM him inquiring where he obtained the scale material. And straight away he offered to send me some. Very cool of him!! So from my understanding he had cut up a 20 lb collar bone to get pieces for scale material. So the pieces that came were some what irregular.(I'm not complaining). It was a chalange. Alot of widdleing, sanding, fileing. The scales did come up a little thicker than I would of prefered, but as I was sanding the marrow started to be exposed and wanted to crumble. As this was a one shot deal, I stopped sanding, filled the holes of the marrow with epoxy and finished the scales with CA. So that was the scales, the wedge is also Giraffe bone with brass liners along with brass pins and brass domed washer. The razor a 6/8 Frederick Reynolds was a bit rusty and had a faint, either a Masonic or Odd Fellows etching. Any how I put the blade through a full corse of greaseless compound and buffed. (I really got to start taking before picture).
"Zomax thanks for your generosity"
