Soft touch attempt. :-]

I was happy when I came accros this one. I could have honed it as is, BUT I had to clean it up a little. Of course to get at the rust inbetween the scales I had to unpin it an polish the scales a little. I restrained myself and put it back together. Each time I looked at it I couldn't get past the ding in the top of the scale on one side. Out came the file and sandpaper. A few minutes later and I am much happier with the looks. I try to appreciate the patina and the history it represents but I have this urge to make them shiny and new. This ones going to the rotation for a while and i will see if I can keep it away from the buffers and new scales.

Nice. You could do a similar notch on the bottom side of the scales and then it would look even more like it was supposed to be the way.

Very nice. Put the notch on the bottom and it will look like one of mine

I can envision that. There are many more minor dings on the bottom. It entered my mind to scallop the edges. Where do I stop?:D

Sometimes restraint is one of the hardest parts, lol.

I'd say that's as restored as it needs to be. +1 on the bottom notches.

it looks great 32t! you must resist the force luke! don't polish...the razor! i'm working on a W&B that my wife got me for xmas. the antique shop owner sold her the razor but i got to pick it;) the metal was straight but rusty and and when i cleaned all the surface rust off, the blade has "hollow ground" etched, i was stoked! i've been taking my time with it and i'll send pic's of it. i should've taken before pic's. but i'll post up some pic's when i'm finished with it. no doubt, yours looks great and it's motivated me to NOT to pursue the mirror-finish! check out my signature line.:D

This razor has turned out to be my favorite shaver. My honing is improving a lot and that may be much of it but I am liking the big heavy blades. I have been into different projects and I agree with the thinking that a shave test is the best. So it hasn't been being used much and I thought that I should get a couple off the shelf, oiled and put away. I had 3 in my hand and was putting my latest project in a coffin to bring to work and show it to my freinds when OOOOPS! the thing hit the cement floor. The blade is fine but the same scale with the ding before is now broke at a 45% angle at the wedge pin. As far as things go if that is the worst thing that happens to me I feel lucky but what a Bummer.:mad:
