Finally! Wade and Butcher!
I had been looking over a year for scales to put this one in. I feel it is a rare one with the thumb notch. I did not feel right about horn or ivory. It had to be old, though. I have been going through my "stuff" and realized this would work! I always considered them "gaudy" and did not realize that I just needed the right blade to tone them down, so to speak. The scales are stamped brass which was silver plated. Some silver remains on one side and the other is only brass. High relief, these! The wedge end was soldered apparently. I stacked up spacers and used some fancy collars from Babur and the result is stellar, in my opinion. Did not do much to the scales, just cleaning because I liked the patina on them. After pinning in the blade, I could bend the scales out around the tang and run a hacksaw blade against the wedge to get blade clearance. Worked out good and shaves WONDERFULLY!
Thanks for looking:D
