Shumate Peacemaker in Custom Acrylic Scales...

I accidentally snapped the scales on this one while dismantling for restoration, should have payed more attention to how brittle the plastic was.

Moving on, I decided to keep the shape of the original scales but not the exact design. This war paint design was added by cutting the design with a small Dremel rotor tip, then the trenches were colored in using a Micron precision felt pen. Since the ink from this pen will not adhere to the plastics the trenches were back filled with CA glue and sanded. This gluing/sanding was repeated until the trenches were fully filled and completely disappeared, giving the scales the appearance of a drawing floating in the plastic.

Finished with SS washers for spacers and brass pins/washers for the pins.

(the spots on the razor and plastic is water drops)

I know my plastic finishing skills still needs some work but I'm happy with the end results and as this razor will be added to my travel kit I expect it will eventually be stolen anyways...

Very Original. Inspires me to work with clear acrylic in new ways. I've done something similar with a ballpoint pen, but never thought to coat it in CA to make it permanent.
