Kamisori in Redwood Burl
This is my new kamisori in CPM154 and stabilized redwood burl. The burl is some of that super hard material: it's tough to work with because of its brittleness, but it is beautiful.
The photos say more than I can:

Absolutely stunning Phillip! It all flows evenly.
-
That is beautiful! Do you have to do any grinding on the front face?
-
It is indeed BEAUTIFUL, there's nothing else I can say, B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

Thanks everyone.
This razor started out as a real ugly duckling. After heat treating, it just sat on my bench. Something about the lines and the balance just wasn't working for me. When a customer asked me to make him a kamisori, I figured I would give the blade another shot.
I really didn't do much to change the razor. I just refined the curves a little and cleaned up the grind. The customer's suggestion to use the redwood burl helped a lot (this was actually the third scale attempt). With a little time and effort I turned a blade I didn't like at all into something I'm proud of.

I forgot to add: the ura was ground on a ten inch wheel and the omote was done on the three inch wheel. This is my most even kamisori grind to date.

I shaved with this beauty for the second time last night, and it's like starting straights all over again. Not only is this my first kamasori style razor it's my first fixed blade and I have to say the learning curve is steep. I've been watching JimR's video and hopefully I'll soon develop the same skill with this as I have with the western straight. Because a razor this great deserves to be used properly and at the time my skills are lacking, but they are improving! Thanks again Philip it was great working with you and the quality of your work is top notch.

To put it quite mildly, I am gobsmacked stunned! The Asymmetry of the blade and scale make it one of the finest creations I have seen on any forum! Of course, the perfection of workmanship counts a lot to make that a perfect "10!"
Very Respectfully

I'm new to your work, but I see a strong individuality in your style that I really like; very clean craftsmanship too. The result is functionally beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
