WB Full Restore
I finished up the Wade and Butcher that I first mentioned in this thread. http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...re-advice.html
It was a very interesting project and I learned a lot: razor regrinding, working with buffalo horn, pinning, and the nuances of old English script.
I wanted this restore to be as close to the original as possible in looks, material, and construction. I pretty much ended up taking Gerrrit's advice to go all out. I had to regrind the blade, make new scales, replace the blade etching, pin everything together, and make everything nice and shiny again. I would like to thank Brian and Glen for their invaluable help. This project would not have turned out nearly this well without their assistance.
Here's what the razor looked like before:

Man! The blade frosting turned out like new! How on Earth did you accomplish that?... Oh! I read the post! You made that! Awesome! The entire thing looks as-new! Amazing! Thanks for sharing it!
-
 That's incredible. I honestly wouldn;t know it was a restore if I only saw it after. but yeah....how'd you pull off the etch??????????????????
-
Man! That came out great. I'm glad that you went through with the etching. It came out perfect. The best part are all of the original details especially the no wedge scales, those are difficult to grind. Way to reach perfection.
-
That's awesome! It's really great that you put the etching back on it.
-
That's not a restore, it's art.
-
Nice...nice...nice. Man that looks stunning!

TOP RESTORATION !
There used to be a guy a few years back called Vlad used to do a process to re etch blades. I think he used a laser but I may be wrong. Whatever you did looks great.

Thanks guys.
The etch was done electro-chemically, the same way I etch my logo. I drew the design in Photoshop using a pen and tablet. That was the hard part: eight hours of eye strain and hand cramps. I developed a great appreciation for the engraver who created the original lettering. It was created by a truly skilled hand. From the digital file, I had a stencil made. The actual etching is easy once everything is set up.
