If you have a little oil on the steel when you apply bluing it will blotch like that. Never tried to intentionally speckle on like that but I may give it a try. What did you use to route the pocket in the box?

Holy Shiznitz, Baldy. Whatever crawled into your imagination (and the skills to execute) - I want some of. That's really beautiful. 'Truly artful.
That is one inspiring piece of work!
Well done.
Great save. Keep up the amazing work

Thanks Rene. I dont know, after sanding I cleaned under hot water, then cleaned with Acetone while wearing nitrile hospital gloves. There are a few theories on this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/forge...al-result.html but we may never know.
Go for it, however I cant take credit for the concept. I was originaly inspired by thread from shooter74743 where he did a similar job.
Now your puttin ideas in my head ;)
The timber was cut through with a scroll saw and then another piece 3mm thick glued on the bottom.
Thanks everyone
Grant
