Default 7/8 Joseph Elliot Silver Steel Full Restoration

    Hello,

This one is a little off the beaten path for me since I typically do full customs. I picked up this razor no too long ago at a barn sale and just could not resist the urge to work on it. The shape is certainly a little different than many you see out there. My references tell me that it falls somewhere in the 1830-1840 range so that would make it about 170-180 years old. The reference that I used was the Standard Guide to Straight Razors Third Edition pg 65. As it turns out they have what appears to be this make/model as their example photos for these years. I could certainly be wrong on this so feel free to share if you have any history. I know there are many of you out there that know a great deal about these older razors and their history.
I, like many of you, enjoy collecting the vintage razors and can appreciate keeping things as original as possible. However, in this case I was not able to salvage the scales so I made a new set. The razor was in non too good shape either but definitely worth salvaging.

The old scales were horn so used horn for the new set with a Big Horn sheep spacer. Did something a little different on the front pin. Has some old salvage watches and used a couple of the gears in there. Stainless washer on top, peened brass pin. Rear pivot is stainless hex.

Well thats about it. I threw in some before and after pics. Let me know what you think.

    Best Regards
    Kenny
