I see no reason to post in this sub-forum if you don't have pictures, but... yea... let's see your pictures.
1) Every person that ever restored a razor doesn't have a buffing wheel.
2) I would say that 'most' people restoring razors to use on their face do NOT possess the best that money can buy for their meager workshops (bedrooms, livingrooms, closets, ect.)
3) The beautiful customs and restores you find on this forum from seasoned customisers and restorers are most likely the minority - and what the hobby/casual/shaver guys would like to gravitate toward someday... if they had the money, the time, the money, the space, the money...
4) I have a feeling that most people restoring razors and using them on their faces don't ever post here, but rather just absorb some of the free and vast knowledge available here and are having a great time just reading...
... and would probably like to see pictures and some tips from those that have gone before them in the sub-forum entitled: Custom Builds and Restorations.

you are right, why vent.
The majority of restorers use only the most basic tools.
You can still get god results though. My restorations were almost all done using sandpaper and a recovered 20$ crappy low RPM grinder, some files, basic pliers, ...
The end result is not necessarily related to the equipment used. It just takes an aweful lot of time to get good results. And I only work on truly bad razors. Just polishing away a couple of water stains and re-pinning does not hold any satisfaction for me. So you won't find a lot of threads here with my name to them.

I wasn’t sure how to read your post.
Were you trying to say that easy jobs (such as simply removing light patina, for example) don’t constitute official “restores” and therefore don’t belong in this sub-forum? Or where you trying to imply that this sub-forum is intended for veterans only? Or were you simply commenting on the quality of the work recently posted in this sub-forum? Or something else?
I ask because your comment, if interpreted incorrectly, could turn people away who would otherwise post pictures of their work. Take me, for example ….. I have been posting in this sub-forum over the past few weeks. I’m green, but I am having a blast with the restore aspects of this great hobby and I can’t help wanting to share with others the razors that I’ve been working on. If, however, my posts are “polluting” the sub-forum somehow, I’d want to know so I don’t violate any rules or standards. I assumed – hopefully correctly – that the sub-forum was open to all “restorers”, however defined and wherever they stand in their restoration journey.
In any event, clarity on the unofficial “rules and expectations” on the sub-forum would be helpful. That last thing I want to do is put off anyone or dilute anyone’s work (including yours –I’ve seen some of your fine work posted here!), so understanding proper etiquette is important. Thank you very much.

Brian you are correct, this is for all restores, when they are done, the only time Myself or Max move threads back to the Workshop is when the threads are "How to" more then "How done" :)
The only "rule" and it is rather a loose one, is don't show off NOS razors that you simply wiped off with MAAS, this forum is for Restores and Customs and the more pics the better.... :)
I believe that much of this thread was lost when edited so I am just going to close it down and if the OP wants to re-post pics in another thread we will all be more then happy to look ...
