Awesome, Charlie, I love it. Can I ask, how did you manage forge-welding a symmetrical grind? Did you sandwich the steel between two layers of Iron, or is the whole blade steel welded to an iron spine?

Jim,
The weld is a butt joint running the length of the blade.
I did some testing with rough ground hardened blanks. I dropped it on the floor a few times, I also tried to break it with my hands while hand sanding. I did not put it in a vise and destructively test it, I am confident in the strength of the joint.
I also made a few blanks with the high carbon steel sandwiched between the wrought iron but have not ground them yet.

This is my favorite of all the non-folders you have done to date. Is the handle actually somewhat rough or is that just how it looks?
Nice work Charlie! I'm sure getting that handle texture just right was not an easy task and it turned out great !!
Best Regards

That is such an original razor. Japanese style, western grind, old school bi-metal construction and hand made to boot! Well done...again! :D
Always something new Charlie! Don't stop innovating! - love your work.
You are beginning to be like a great suspense novel, can't wait to turn the page and see what is next...
