First restoration - W&B Barbers use

I picked up a pretty beat 8/8 Wade and Butcher Barbers use razor on eBay a little while ago. The scales were pretty grimy (couldn't even tell the wedge was metal) but the blade wasn't too bad. When I got the chance I unpinned the scales, filled some cracks, sanded and polished them and took off all the rust and polished the blade.

I really enjoyed the process and can't wait to start another project.

WOW! Same scales? Awesome work. What did you fill the cracks with and how did you finish them? Amazing job. Totally original. Sweet!

Thanks! I filled the cracks with CA glue and went through the grits of sandpaper on the scales, finishing up with micromesh 3200-12000. I need to get some neatsfoot oil to finish them up though. The micromesh is really great for a deep mirror finish as long as you get all the scratches out with previous sandings.

With most blades you have to push them forward with a light touch, on these you have to apply the brakes.

I've read a lot on here of guys saying that type of stuff about them. I just purchased a 6/8 wedge earlier today in the classifieds. It's no hoss like a W&B 8/8 but it is my first wedge and first blade over 5/8 so I'm psyched. Baby steps lol
