Custom Musk Ox Big Smiler 8/8+

Hello Gents,

Here is a big smiling custom I finished up. Steel is O1, scales are the thick part near the skull which is considered by most to be the choicest portion of the Musk Ox Horn. The stand was an after thought. Had a scrap of PB Ivory I pick up from Bill (Pixelfixed) It had a big chip in it so I sanded that area flat and tried my hand at a little musk ox scrimshaw. Used an old sewing needle and some Parker jet black Super Chrome ink. I inserted a magnet in the rear of the base and it grips the razor very nicely.

drool....that thing is absolutley beautiful,realy like the way the light carries thru the scales too.

Beautiful!! It reminded me of something at first glance, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Finally hit me. It resembles a seahorse, but not one I'd want to swim into!! Excellent razor, Thanks for sharing!

Wickedly beautiful! That blade design is just awesome and those scales have some of the coolest coloring/grain i've ever seen.

First let me say, thank you to all you guys for your kind words. I really enjoy making razors, but being able to share them with you fellas is icing on the cake.
:) Now, as to the honing. I taped the spine and some of the hollow face just to prevent a real nasty accidental scratch. I then just used a rolling x motion and tried to follow the blade carefully. It was not an "easy" one and a little learning experience for me to be sure :) Best Regards Ken

Looks like the bottom of the tang is the only straight line there, & I'm not sure of that. :) Awesome flow.

That is truly a piece of art, and I would pay heartily to get my hands on a set of scale blanks of that material (I'm drooling! PM me!) But as much as I like looking at it, I would derive much more pleasure out of watching somebody try to hone and strop it, especially during "the flip." :gl:

I think stroping will not envolve the usual flip,but a slow, delibrate,carefully executed roll:)

Wow. Unlike anything other razor that has been posted on this forum - amazing scales. Great eye appeal and showpiece. But honing must be a bear. Kudos
