Pipe razor with a new lease on life.

I have wanted this razor for some time, and found one in very poor shape in at a antique shop last summer. Ive been fairly busy most of the year but finally got this one completed. Unfortunately I lost the original photos but this puppy was covered in a fair bit of rust and she was in pretty bad shape.

This is only my third restore so please be honest and let me know if i did anything wrong except the inside of the scales. I polished the outside but the insides still needs some work i'll finish that up this week. I really take constructive criticism well it's the only way you learn so be honest good or bad.

I left a little pitting on the face but i wanted to save the etching so it was a fair trade to keep her original as possible.

All she needs now is a little polish on the inside of thescales and off to the hones this weekend.

Great job! Very dignified. Whats the hole below the top pin? Perhaps a little garnet or pearl from the hobby store would fit? On the inside of the scales, smash a q-tip with a hammer and put some Maas on it. It will clean up the inside of the scales nicely! Then a clean one to finish up. Works great!

They are not holes there is actually metal inlayed in there I'm unsure why, but great idea on putting a garnet their should be easy to do once i find the right stone to inlay. Thanks for the idea!

I think you did a great job. I have a pipe razor in waiting right now that I picked up yesterday bad rust on spine but edge is good. I hope it comes out as nice as yours did.

Looks VERY nice. I have a pipe in great condition but one its scales is cracked just above the pin and I'd love to get new ones. Where did you source these scales from? They are beautiful.

They are the original scales just lots of polishing and buffing. Sorry i can't be of more help.
