    For those interested - this is actually where I got the blanks. He typically sizes them more for knife scales, but you can find ones in the 6" range for straights. He only does auctions and they can get pricey. A lot of beautiful stuff comes from him. Staburl on eBay is another one you can get blanks from.

    For finish - since it is stabilized wood I just sanded to 1000 grit sandpaper and finished with micromesh (whatever the teal one is, maybe 12000??) with a light buff of blue rogue to finish.
