Bechon-Basmaison heelless round point
This is a Bechon-Basmaison heelless razor I got from my Barber. It wasn't in the best of shape, but I liked the look and had never heard of this brand. I used a vibratory tumbler to clean off the rust, then I reground the blade. It was starting to look like the blade would be worn down to a 3/8 before I'd get out all of the pits, so I let some of them remain (they are mostly on the back side anyway). I then polished the blade in my tumbler and tried etching it in vinegar. Initially, it looked pretty good, but after sitting around for a few weeks it started to get some yellowish discoloration (like rust). I polished the blade with some MAAS, and I think it looks better now.
I had intended to reuse the plastic scales, but as I was sanding them, I discovered that one of them has a piece of metal imbedded in it. Since I found the metal by removing plastic, I'll have to assume that it got into the mold when they poured the plastic. I ended up making a new set of scales, using Neon Toxic Green G10 from USA Knife Maker Supply.
I really haven't been able to find any information on Bechon-Basmaison, so if anyone can offer any, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
