Now THAT'S a transformation! Holy Smokes!
Wow John, that's what I call a day well spent :)
Great job :tu
Must have been a pretty satisfying day considering the shape it was in and the shape it is in now. Nice job.
Bob
Good job bringing that razor back home John.
Very nice. Great job.
Definately a fine save on that one. Great job! :)
Very nice. I like the deep pitting that is still there, makes it look really old and used.
Great job. how about posting how you did the job.
Great save. I hope you enjoy the fruits of your labor.
wow!..I spent about 4 hours in 2 days sanding and cleaning my J/E Silver Steel blade..man is it tiring...yet a GREAT feeling!
That's incredible, I really like the deep pitting too!
WOW, just WOW.
I don't know, but I suspect that hidden somewhere at my Nan's place is a straight razor that used to belong to my late Pop, IF it's still there I'm dreading the condition that it's likely to be in, he passed away in 1983 and if memory serves had abandoned straight razor shaving in favour of cartridges (who knows why?) for some time before that.
Seeing a transformation like that really gives me hope that if it turns up it can be restored to something resembling it's former glory.
I really hope it does turn up, even if it's not able to be restored to a point where it can be shaved with, I'd really like to restore it as an heirloom and a reminder of my Pop, he really was a great guy, one of nature's true gentlemen.
I don't know what it is about restoring a blade and still having some pitting that I find so attractive. Maybe it's the fact that it has been brought back from the grave and given a mirrored finish, while still keeping some of the age in the final look. Either way, fantastic job bringing it back to life! Hopefully after some time I'll be able to do the same (still very new to the whole straight razor lifestyle).
