Second set of scales
Picked up an Olive wood cutting board a few weeks back that I thought would make nice scale material. This is my second attempt at making scales and no power tools were harmed on the process except for the use of an electric hand drill. Tried to make domed washers and use stacking. I also had to bend the tang in a vise to straighten it out. Tried a CA finish for the first time too. Thanks to the excellent wiki here things did not go too badly. I still have some hair left after this escapade. Lots of mistakes in her but it appears serviceable. I'm going to hone it and give her a test drive tonight.

Thanks Skipnord, unfortunately just posted that I dropped her during the test drive. At least I will get more honing practice in.

Good job. Your doing very well with the pins.
That's not a crack in the blade, is it?
-
No, not a crack but it has a chip now though.

Looks awesome! I think the grain in the olivewood makes for excellent scale material.
