Joseph Elliot's "Fine India Steel"

Here is my newest razor. I gave it a full regrind, its 13/16 quarter hollow with a set of salvaged one piece tortise shell scales.
I couldnt remove all the pitting, but got pretty damn close.

How did you do the regrind? I have an old W&B I got off Ebay by mistake that has a lot if wear. I've considered a regrind, but don't really know what if need to do it properly.

I built a 1x42 belt grinder (sort of like Spazzola's) to build razors with. I probably have about 75 hrs experience on it (not much). It was nerve racking. I decided this razor would be a minimal loss situation and had to give it a shot.
For the cost of the grinder, wheels, belts, hydro ect you can have a LOT of razors reground by resident restorers, lol.

I wonder how tough it would be to do freehand. I've got my hand piece at with and all sizes of discs and stones.

I did the initial grind with a tool rest and an 8" wheel, then from 120 to 6 micron freehand, then buffed.

Very nicely done Eric. Great job on the regrind. Looks great now, back from the dead.

That's cool. I'd love to know if the little flea bites in the edge cause any trouble with the shave.

Flea bites? Are you talking about the pitting in the last two pics?

Yeah, I think that's what they're called, just on the edge near the heel. I don't mean to knock your razor though, it's very nice...
