First CA finish.
I had a Morely that I keep as a 'loaner' razor for my friends that want to try out this game.
I decided to make some new scales and experiment a bit, so I thought I'd try some CA.
I used gorilla brand super glue and it was awesome to work with!
The scales are Bocote with about 6 layers of CA, then 8 layers of Turtle wax.
Brass pins, with stacked SS and brass washers.
Take a look, I don't have any 'before' pics this time though.

As always, feedback is welcome. Good or bad.
Cheers!

I'm liking this one too! Nice clean lines.
I'm becoming fascinated by bocote. As well as usually having great grain, it can come out in such a wide range of colours. The last piece that I used was way darker than this, and I have seen others that were more reddish. Interesting wood!

I like Bocote. It's odd, I've used the same piece of wood for 3 different sets of scales and each time it looks different depending on which clear finish I use????
Weird...

First CA finish.
Hey hey! Very nice work sir! Bravo!
-
very handsome. That last pic shows the depth of finish the CA is known for. Pinning looks good also. 'Very nice work.

Thanks Padraig.
How are the razors holding up?

Looks better in pictures than it does in person... LOL. JK, LOVE the finish you got on those scales brother. GOOD job!

That's the benefit of being a terrible photographer!
It hides all my mistakes! :)

Looks pretty good to me. Nice finish.

Well, bocote threw me another curveball today!
This one is just held together with microfasteners at the moment as it's between coats of tung oil, but the wedge is bocote. So compare the wedge here:

with your scales as well as these scales here that came from the same piece of wood as the wedge in the first pic...

Three completely different looks from the same kind of wood, with two of them coming from the same piece! I love this stuff.
BTW, I know those are brutal pins in my second pic, but it was my first attempt at pinning on my very first restore way back when. I still need to go back and re-do them. :)
We should start a bocote fan club here. :)
