7/8 crocodile tail custom, black G10 scales

Here is the next member of my first HT razor package! http://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/.../001_smile.gif

The blade is made from O1 at about 60-61HRC, mirror polish and about quarter grind, scales are black G10 with the same black G10 glued wedge.

This was the first time I worked with G10, but I really like how it came out. It can be polished nicely, but the terrible itching isn't the nicest afterwards http://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/.../thumbdown.gif Next time I will be wearing gloves too, not just a respirator and closed clothing.

I like working with wood better, but I must admit that shynth stuff is much easier to work with. I am sure that I will be making some stuff out of jade G10 too, I have bought a few pieces which will be enough for maybe 3 razors.

this looks awesome! what did you use to make this? what kind of grinder, grits of sandpaper, etc? for some reason, this particular razor makes me want to try my hand at making one. Never had any experience, but why the heck not try, huh?

I started it also this way :)

What I used:

Home made 2x72" belt grinder with 1hp 3 phase motor, 6" contact wheel, 80-120-240-400 belts, Norax x45 and x16 belts, then polishing with compound on a converted bench grinder.

It seems easy at first, but practice makes pefect. Or at least I hope so ;)

Very nice, it looks almost surgical grade lol. Your grinding is very well done, machine like I would say very clean and straight. Too bad I live in the states, I would like to learn some grinding techniques from you :cry:

Hey great job, I like the clean look. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind saying where you purchased your G10? I have found a few knife making sites that sell it, but I was wondering if you have a particular site you use.

I recieved a small parcel from Hungary the other day which triggered my faltering memory bank to bring me back to this thread started by a mentor and senior member from Hungary, Jeness.
I have had the pleasure of two shaves with this straight and am happy to say they were excellent. Someone had mentioned that this blade appeared scalpel sharp and I will not disagree
with that statement and it is appropriate since Jeness is a medical student. This is a beautifully done straight razor and is as serious shaving and is it good looking.
Jeness thank you for allowing me the review it was most kind. Your work will head back to your home next week.
