OCD Custom swayback in abalone

Attachment 109039 Attachment 109040 Attachment 109041 Attachment 109042 Attachment 109043This one is an 8/8's full hollow with jimps top, bottom, fore, and aft. She has a sorta French point with a spikey toe and heel. She has an almost primitive surface from 3 normalizing firings and a final, but is polished to a high shine.

Scales are blue/green vinyl sheet abalone in the 3 pin format.

My test shave with her was outstanding. Thanks to Mike Blue for some advise he gave me on improving grain quality.

The other meaning to the name is "Original Custom Designed Razors"

Might fine work Bob. Very nice. Anyone would be proud to have this one as one of their regular shavers I would imagine.

A few years back I received a personalised bone scaled swayback in the post. Bob's note said he wanted the razor to go to a good home.
Not only was I impressed by Bob's generosity(As this kind of thing usually dosn't happen to me), but I was very impressed by the shave quality the razor gave. In fact I knew I had to own another and the wait began.
I prefer the bigger blade and Bobs style is right up my street, the balance and heft is spot on for me.
The grinding is also very impressive, I would say almost full hollow on the green abalone, bevel is really thin.
I own a few top notch shavers by which I benchmark everything else I own amongst which include a filli and W&B. Having touched up the edge to my favourite stone to comapare like for like, I have to say that this razor shaves every bit as good as my best razors.
For someone who wants something unique and personal I cannot recommend the quality of these razors enough.
Bob is also very generous with his knowledge and the razor on the right is a work in progress made so far using the stock removal methods that Bob has taught me.

I'm delighted with the razor.
