8/8 Friodur in Feathered Horn

This is one I just finished up, built to spec...

Scales: Polished Buffalo Horn done with 3M Cloth 400-600-1200-4000-6000-8000
Wedge: Filed Elephant Ivory
Pins: NiAg
Washers: Stacked SS except the center with only a single small SS washer
Center Post: Nickel
Honing: Naniwa SS 1-3-5-8-10-12

I took the scale blanks down to just under 1/8 inch (.108) after I contoured the outside, gave it a really nice feel in the hand and balanced it right to the center of the tang...

The middle spacer: are those stacked stirling beads? Do you have to drill the hole to fit 1/16" rod?

Many Thanks Rob,,, I actually have to embarrassingly admit to stalking the Bead Shows and Sections, I find tons of stuff that with some tweaking and imagination can be used quite often on razors :p ... That is where I found those little doodads in Silver and Brass

I am usually the only guy there that is not being towed along by the wife LMAO

Glen, the lovely bride, here, makes jewelry (carving wax, casting, stonesetting). I'm trying to press her into an esoteric one called Plique a jour. I've been drug through a few shows, and never thought to scan for scale/razor hardware. Excellent idea.

'Tried some stirling 'beads', that look similar to the center spacer. The issue I had was that the hole was more sized for thread than pinning rod.

That Friodur turned out great, Glen, especially the filed wedge. Looks like you ditched the metal backers to get the filing work done right tho. ;)

Yeppers good eye I finished it all up and after all that slow tedious work with the Magmifiers, I put it together and you couldnt' even see the liners, in fact the only way I knew that it had liners, was the sharp points that were catching everything :( So I pulled it back apart ditched the liners cleaned the Ivory and voila'

I received this razor today as a surprise when I returned from college, and I absolutely love it, thanks for the great work. Shaved with it this morning, its a heirloom piece for sure.

Number 3, in my opinion, is one of the best looking razors I have ever seen. Good work! Love the Spanish point with the worked spine! Hope to get something similar someday!

That is a nice collection of Frio's...
I think I like the first one the best.
It seems to be a #14 blade, although I can't see the number actually on the tang or tail.
Sweet set! That family will be a proud bunch of shavers.
Things simply don't get much better than big, full hollow ground Friodurs...
