Hello everyone, I signed up here over a year ago to share my love of razors and see what everyone is shaving with but unfortunately I had some family problems shortly after and I forgot about this place. About a week ago I remembered about my account and so here I am! I love to get old razors into a shave-ready, maintainable state and I've dabbled in some custom work too. My philosophy is to leave as much of the steel as possible and I love razors with character. That being said, here is my latest shaver, an old W. Hawcroft & Sons wedge. I had seen similar ones of that make before I got this one and I always though they were pretty neat. I really like the thumb cutaway with the fine jimping and the slabbed spine. This one had water damage and moderate hone wear, plus the odd scratches and pitting that show up on these old razors. I gave it a very light treatment on the buffer, cleaned up the scales and re-pinned it and it was done as far as cosmetics go. Honing took awhile since the edge was very craggy and I went through a few pieces of tape setting the edge. Shaved with it earlier this evening and it shaves very well, really smooth with a good solid weight to it. If anyone has more info on these razors it would be much appreciated, questions and comments always welcome!
