I posted some questions about these a couple weeks ago and didn't get much of a response.
Perhaps it is because folks are unfamiliar with Clauss?
Can anyone verify if these are silver plated? I'm trying to figure out how to start cleaning it up.

I don't think i've ever heard of a silver plated razor, only gold leaf or blueing being applied to the steel afterwards. It could just be silver steel that gives it that look.
As far as Clauss goes, it's a reputable brand but I've never seen many of them that had a fancy design like yours has. Very nice shoulderless, thumb notch design.

I have actually only seen one razor that was plated and that was chrome, but that was many many razors ago...
While I’m not in Glen’s league of restoring or honing by any means, the first thing I do before cleaning up a razor is to hone it to see how it will shave. Then I can evaluate whether or not my time, effort and materials are worth it!!
With that said, I would skip the honing as that’s a very beautiful razor!!!
I usually start with either MASS metal polish or Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. Both work well, I feel the Mothers is more aggressive so I typically use it first then follow up with the MASS.
One thing to remember is that you can use newspaper when you start out. it has an abrasive all by itself. Also, wash the blade with a drop of liquid dish soap and rinse it. There is a residue that is left on the blade when you simply wipe the blade off. this will allow you to see your progress!!
I finish up with old T_shirt for the cloth!
Also, even though the paper or cloth will start to turn black almost immediately, that doesn’t mean that the polish isn’t still working!!!!!
I work the Hell out of the polish until it seems to either ‘dry up’ or ‘gum up’ then I switch to a clean piece of paper or cloth and continue for awhile! I’m not ‘cheap’ but I am ‘Frugal’!!
