    The scales are Elephant Ivory at .090
    The wedge is recon Tiger Eye at .055
    Pins & Washers, in and out are Solid Brass
    Honing Chosera 1-5-10, Blue Green Escher finish

    Strong work as usual Glen. Curious why you chose to use washers when washer-less is the traditional route for ivory? Actually, I'm curious as to why washer-less is traditional anyway. Very nice at any rate....

    Not all the Vintage ones were washerless, you can find both, but you are correct that most of them were done that way..

    As to why so many were washerless, I have seen a few "Theories" posted but honestly they don't really hold water when you look at the overall picture.. Personally I have never been a fan of washerless pinning I only do it if I have to match the pinning on a Vintage restore, I have always felt it was a weaker system more prone to causing cracks and slip throughs... I can offer no solid evidence of that hypothesis, someday I should go through the hundreds of cracked scales in the one sided scales Bench Box and compare

    Perhaps back in the day when Ivory was cheap and plentifull they did not care about the occasional cracked scale,toss it and grab another.
    Today we cannot afford not to use washers.Is just a far safer way to work with a rare material.
