Which Ed Bongo? I might have been able to help out with something along those lines perhaps too. I have some materials down in the shed as well.

Hi Mick,
Ed "H" was after some pins and washers.
E-bay can be a bit expensive when you factor in shipping,
and I haven't gotten around to checking out the model / hobby shops
in Perth yet. Will do so in the next few weeks.
B.T.W.
I'm toying with the idea of putting in a bulk order with Micro-Fasteners,
(or whatever they're called) so that our cobbers here have an opportunity
to get some of these thingys, just pin-rod and washers.
Everyone (in Oz) who wants a few pairs free of charge could just ask here.
Whaddaya say ?
I'm still looking for a supplier in Perth.
Oh, and I've had a few beers, so feeling a bit idealistic as well :beer1:
Seriously though, if someone wants just a few pairs, why not ?
Bongo.
The last lot I got, I got from either Jantz Knife making supplies or Texas Knife making supplies. I can't remember which one now. They have a good range of fasteners...Or at least used to when last I checked.
Sounds like a generous offer with the fasteners mate, but don't do yourself out of money with it. Surely postage and a few coins to cover costs isn't too much to ask of anyone. :)
Mick
Theres a hobby shop in Perth on Murray st has really small bolts etc I was thinking if using to replace a pin. Never got there though but be a place for you to start. Think a set of ten pins and washes on the bay is 20 plus postage but it isn't much. And technically were both Ed H ha
Hi Eddy, actually I was referring to Ed "H", who doesn't live in Perth "Wesrern Australia"
Actually he does and I'm too soused now to keep editing this post.
LOL , sorry, I couldn't resist being a smart-ass :nj
Awaiting your riposte :tameshigiri:
I spose he only lives here 1/3 of the time. I knew who you meant but wanted to be smart and don't think I've mentioned the fact we are both Ed H so your qualification was technically accurate.
Hey, guys, the idea and the following posts are neat.
Now:
Buying fasteners in the hundred quantity is really cheap. About 6-9 USD for a hundred.
A guy willing to break down a hundred in area of slow delivery is a great idea.
You might check with these folks:

Jeepers, this is getting out of control, I will shoot you a PM, and of course I will cover postage generously. The idea of group buy isn't bad, this stuff can be stuck to a piece of card and sent as a letter for $1.20.
Anyways don't want to breach any forum policies so will stop right there.
take a look in the Downunder area - Aussie suppliers thread also
Some more Aussie suppliers
Micro fasteners:
MICRO FASTENERS MULTI SCALE (I have ordered from with no problems & quick delivery)
Miniature Fasteners « Micro Fasteners Pty Ltd
After doing some research: the R/C shop in Midland has brass rod for about $1 per length, but no washers or bolts etc.
Stanbridges in mount lawley do have screws and washers etc, but the washers are $8 for 5, ebay is looking cheap.
I didn't think the rod was expensive but those washers were stupid expensive, the other store had 3/64 washers for a dollar or two for a pack of 10 or 20, but they are a bit small :)
For the bolts to fasten the scales together for fit and function I use #1-64 or #0-80 screws and nuts.
0-80 0.060 / 1.6 mm
1-64 0.073 / 1.85mm even these are a bit large.
Larger washers have the problem of a hole bigger than your expanding of the pin by hammering.

PS, often the shipping is higher than the cost of the parts. so get all at once if you can either locally or from a single supplier on the 'bay.
Hit the nail on the head there Ed. :)
Afraid group buys are against the forum rules :
http://straightrazorpalace.com/down-...etc..29_policy
Of course a pm among a few interested parties is all good just not via the forums.
Just to add my 2 cents
I used to work in optometry practices.
We used nuts and bolts of 1.2 , 1.4 and 1.6 mm on a daily basis
You may want to try a local optometry practice for some help, independents tend to. Have wider variety than chains in my working experience
Micro fasteners etc in Oz this was about the best deal I found with fixed postage in OZ with out having to by rediculous quantities
MICRO FASTENERS MULTI SCALE
not sure hoew they go with international freight but
no prob Ed they are in SA I have gotten all my microfasteners & pins & washers from them
the shipping comment was more for the international brothers
O.K. Ed, I'll post some nuts 'n' bolts 'n' pins 'n' washers to you on Thursday.
I've also put in an order to the Micro Fasteners website that Substance put up on this thread.
When they arrive I'll post some pics.
