I am going to presume you are in Australia?
If so onimaru55 I know is well respected and his edges verge on legendary.
Beyond that look in the member services section,
if you are no in Australia let us know where you are at and we can point you in a solid direction.

I would suggest that paying Os or John to do your razors edge would be your best bet. You will get a quality professional edge that will truly let you know what 'Shave ready' means. It doesn't cost a great deal either. Most of us can hone, and indeed do our own, but the paid pro's will give you known quality.

Can't go wrong with Oz, send him a PM, just make sure to post the edge in some sort of box for protection, I have read that if you send it off in an envelope it gets crushed going through a sorter.

Have contacted Oz and sending it to him. But am also looking for a old Razor to have practice on the stone with. Then when i get mine back from Oz will know what to aspire to.

Good thinking and be careful with the strop when you get it back.

Check your local antique stores mate. Sometimes you'll find a practice razor there for a reasonable price.

    G'day Clive
Only just seen your post welcome to the place.
I'm just down in Gladdy and willing help you where I can good to see another local on here.
but I suggest sending it to Oz in Sydney for the first hone up for sure if it wasn't ready to go
My first st8 was a restore vintage delivered shave ready did not need it.

I have honed some of my own but only a newb myself in this aspect with only a handful of fully successful hone up and only 5 months shaving with a St8
I have had a Nani 1k, norton 4/8k for a while and my naniwa 12k only arrived on Friday so haven't had a chance to lap it even yet but during the week I will have a play it for sure

What is your blade you have already and what are you looking for?
I have found a few good deals on the classifieds here shave ready for $50-100 and the haven't payed more than $80 (1" W&B lucky score mind you) on eBay including delivery.
We can usually get a decent st8 delivered to CQ for less than $25 AUD that is my max so far, sure there are some that want up to $65 for 1 razor just for delivery but I won't go there (yet)
    Cheers Dion

Send me a reminder email & I'll add a practice razor in the return bag for you.
