I haven't smelled Bay rum yet, but so many rave about it so I thought I wold give it a try. I have seen TOBS and Lucky Tiger and Col Conk, but thats it so far.Quote:

Well see if you can't hunt yourself up an Ogallala sample pack for a start. You'll get to try about five different scents. My preference (and more importantly, the wife's) was Sandalwood Bay rum. You won't get Pinaud that I have found so far, and if you do, it will be vastly over-priced due to said shipping cost.

Not a big range, but we Aussies must be thankful that someone is selling it here (Melbourne) ;)

Just found this on ebay....He's based in Sydney and sells The Col Conk Bay Rum, Lime, Amber and Almond after shaves.
Also sells Blue Beard's revenge, Proraso, TOBS, Parker shave creams, aftershaves, post shave balms, shave soaps, Brushes, stands etc, worth a look !!
Will add this to the Aussie shaving supplies post.

I have to say I like both of these Bay Rums for different reasons. They are different but I can understand why they both are called bay rum. I would struggle to say which one I like more. If I had to make a decision I would say the the Col. Conk was more for evening wear as its heavier in smell and the Pinaud is much more cooling and lighter so a good choice for day wear.
Im going to enjoy both :)

As far as I know, the Col. Conk bottles are based on the antique "Stetson Brand" aftershave bottles. I like 'em.

I was getting a brush at Mensbiz which was $19. Free shipping kicks in at $20 so they were going to charge me $9.95 shipping. I looked at the Col Conk Bay Rum shaving soap and quickly realised it was $9.95 too.
I consider that I got the soap for free :-D I'm very pleased with its lather. I get on much better with it than the Proraso cream which was drying out fast and turning into plaster of paris.
